Recently, there are some advancements in MSC research across Various Fields.

  1. Immune Disease Treatment:MSCs have shown notable advantages in treating immune-related diseases. Animal studies have demonstrated their effectiveness in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) mortality and alleviating associated clinical symptoms. In a mouse model of liver cirrhosis, MSC injections significantly improved liver fibrosis and stimulated hepatocyte proliferation.
  2. Bone Repair and Cell Apoptosis Inhibition:Research highlights MSCs' ability to promote bone defect repair safely and effectively. For example, MSCs combined with bio-scaffolds have been used successfully in treating temporal bone defects, while MSCs alone have shown positive outcomes in vertebral defect repair. Studies from 2019 and 2021 also revealed that MSCs inhibit microglial cell apoptosis and reduce inflammation in the body.
  3. Rheumatic Disease Treatment:Recent animal studies indicate that MSCs can reduce synovitis and cartilage damage following intra-articular injections. In human trials, local MSC injections have been proven safe and effective in preventing osteoarthritis (OA), with no significant adverse effects reported.
  4. Pulmonary Disease Treatment:In patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), allogeneic human MSC therapy has shown promise in reducing inflammation and lowering serum C-reactive protein levels. MSC-based treatments also offer potential for alleviating conditions like aging and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) through cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathways.
